Last year, they were very popular.  The safety deposit keys are flooded with solder with metal stamped words, hand soldered silver jump rings, beads and a bit of fiber.Words become keys to life, a reminder to dream or play.  Many artists choose a word for the New Year to guide them in their artwork. The Thermofax machine was made by 3M and is not manufactured by them now.  Chris says a German company makes them. I always wanted to knit one of these beaded amulet bags.  It's okay for a first attempt.  I know now what I'd do differently- start with two beads per column vs. one; and tighten up my gauge.  My knitting was very loose here. Last weekend, I made a new coil-bound journal using printer's paper (an absorbent paper that is used to clean the printer's press). I've always admired the journals that Celeste and Tina keep- dark, decorated paper with white ink writing. It's an early snowfall for the  Willamette Valley.  So far only the hills are dusted in white.
