2011 Art Journal Calendar December Giveaway

Thanks to everyone who came to the Portland Art Collective Art Show and Sale this weekend. It was great to see you. We had gorgeous weather both days and lots of shoppers. As a thank you to my blog readers, I'm giving away two of my 2011 Art Journal Calendars. Comment on this post to enter and I'll draw two names on Saturday, December 18th. Good luck!

Lots of ornaments, danglies and charms graced the tree and table at the entrance.

Many sat and read member art journals. The variety of journals and journaling styles inspired several readers to want to journal themselves. One goal of our show is to promote creativity.

Frosty the Snowman came by to say hello and get us into the holiday spirit.

Keys to Life

This week, I worked on adding embellishments to keys that I flooded with solder and stamped with words and phrases. After taking Stephanie Lee's Homesteader's Metalsmithing online class this summer, I got the idea to use safe deposit keys supplied by DH for pendants. They come in different sizes and shapes. With added soldered wire links, beads and a bit of ribbon, they became great little necklaces. I'll be selling these at our Portland Art Collective Show in December.

Verbascum Sketch and Another Giveaway

Discovering new flowers and plants is one of my favorite things about sketching. This week, we sketched at Portland Nursery and I saw this beauty- verbascum "Copper Rose". The long stocks of flowers remind me of hollyhocks which bloom later in the summer.

Please check out the Portland Art Collective giveaway. Our May giveaway is one of my wire crocheted necklaces. Comment on the giveaway post to enter your name to win the necklace. I'd love to have one of my blog readers win it.

Giveaway Winner!

The numbers for the blog giveaway went into a hat and this morning DH drew No. 11. Congratulations, Cynthia Mooney. You're the winner! Thanks to everyone who participated. I appreciate your support and interest. Looking back over three years of blogging, I see how keeping an online journal of my artwork and travels helps to focus on what I enjoy doing most.

This week, we visited a beautiful garden in the country to see and sketch the tree peonies. Before the rain came, we toured the garden and sketched a little. The kanji stamps say Good Luck and Good Day.

Giveaway to Celebrate Three Years Blogging

To celebrate the third anniversary of my blog and say thank you to all of my readers, I'm giving away this collage and stenciled piece that I created in Judy Wise's "Stencil Your Family" class a couple of years ago. It's unified with an encaustic layer of wax. Judy helped me start this blog and gave me lots of encouragement.

The stencil was created from a 1940's photograph of my mother fishing off Florida's east coast. It's called "Gone Fishing". She made a pretty good catch with a fish that size!

Make a comment on this post and I will put your name in a hat. Friday, April 30th, I will pull a name from the hat and post the winner's name. If I do not have your email address, you can contact me at ppmcnamee@gmail.com. Join in the fun and celebrate this anniversary.

Keeping a blog helps me chronicle my artwork, creative adventures and travels. Along the way, I've made friends, learned a lot and enjoy the exchanges and inspiration blog-land offers.
