Back to Sketching on Tuesdays

Yesterday, we sketched at Monticello Antiques. Here's a silver and jade teapot that spoke to me.
It's a challenge to keep my drawings loose. We talked about an exercise to select an artist's style that we like and imitate it to learn that person's techniques, palettes and mode of expression.
A couple of weeks ago, we sketched at Townsend Tea on NE Alberta. The rows of tall teapots and the paper lantern-style vase highlighted Spring colors and a lighter palette.

Going to different places and sketching would be so much fun. I can't sketch at all and envy any one who does.

I really like the sketch at Townsend Tea, I love the face, and the teapots and vase look nice and loose.

I need to sketch more often!

Thanks Lorrie and Gwen for your comments. Sketching is a way of seeing the world- an object, a person, or a landscape- jotting down the essence of the subject. It's your interpretation of what you see. With practice, one improves the skill of seeing through the hand.
